Blast From the Past: Bernard Wright

Oh the 80s were so special. This Bernard Wright video is yet another reason I need more music channels in my life. I heart BET*J. Sadly, it won't wind up on my television any time soon in this economy.

Anyway, this is the same song LL Cool J and Total sampled. I love this song and how Wright sung with such intensity. What I really adore, however, is the tumbling effect. It's sickeningly sweet...in more ways than one. Awwww



PS - This group also sampled this song. I don't remember them at all...well barely. They should have called this one, "The Gold-diggers Anthem".

Adidas House Party: the music

I'm sure most of you have seen this Adidas Originals house party commercial. Loves it; but what I love even more is the music. I found myself humming the featured song but had no idea who the artist was. (I actually suspected it was N.E.R.D. for a second.) So I did a little digging and the song is actually "Beggin'", originally performed by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, and remixed by Pilooski. Me likey

My favorite song by Leela James is My Joy. Sure it’s a blues song, but it’s hardly a sad one. I’d love to share my favorite live version but it somehow vanished from YouTube and everywhere else on the 'net (probably due to an accident with the mic during the performance. Still, that’s just how fierce the song was because the mic incident didn’t even matter!). So I’ll just share this one. Actually what I like about this performance is how she breaks it down.
