Tasty Tuesdays: Making Whoopie . . . Pies
Author: Tbyrd | 10:21 AM | No Comments |
Marshmallow Pies and Moon Pies are the closest thing I've had to the tasty treats featured in this article. Either way, my mouth is watering and now I will spend the rest of the week in search of some.

Personal Day Monday: What's My Motivation?
Author: Tbyrd | 12:28 PM | 1 Comment |
I'm not feeling very motivated today, so I have nothing to share other than some blog things quizzes and this punk rock chick I created here (try it out).
I know, what a totally random post; but I'm feeling a certain way today. grrrrr
Your Mind is Purple
Of all the mind types, yours is the most idealistic.
You tend to think wild, amazing thoughts. Your dreams and fantasies are intense.
Your thoughts are creative, inventive, and without boundaries.
You tend to spend a lot of time thinking of fictional people and places - or a very different life for yourself.
You’re a Good Friend Because You’re Honest
Like it or not, your friends are going to hear the truth from you.
You know that the truth hurts, but living a life of lies is much worse.
So while you're definitely kind and supportive, you don't pull any punches with your friends.
Everyone knows where they stand with you and what you like and dislike about them.
While some may be initially turned off by your honesty, your friends have come to consider it a virtue.
After all, in world of white lies and deceptive politeness, you can be counted on for honesty and integrity.
Your friends need you most when: They need good advice or an intelligent opinion
You really can't be friends with: Needy, emotional people
Your friendship quote: "True friendship can afford true knowledge. It does not depend on darkness and ignorance."
You Mostly Have Your Emotions in Check
Sometimes your emotions get out of control, but you usually are a pretty stable person.
You can find a lot to be happy about, as long as things are going your way.
But if a few bad things happen to you, you tend to go in a bit of a downward spiral.
Luckily, you usually come out of it okay and no worse for the wear.
You Are 48% Angry
Generally, you are not an angry person.
But you're easily frustrated and enraged. You have one heck of a temper.
And because of your anger, you tend to feel resentful and even spiteful.
You already know how to quell your anger. You just need to do it more often.

Fun Fridays: The Time
Author: Tbyrd | 9:55 AM | No Comments |
I like to start the weekend off with some good music and who better to share today than my favorite band EVER - Morris Day & The Time. Sure, other acts have come along since The Time, but none in my opinion have been as entertaining and talented all at the same time. Besides that, they were just so damn cool. Nobody's got swagger like The Time. Nobody *stomping my foot for emphasis*
*PS, since one of my favorite Time songs is "The Bird", I thought another dancing bird might be appropriate to share. I don't know why I can't get enough of our dancing feathered friends. Check out Frostie getting down to a Ray Charles classic. too cute*

Crafty Thursdays: Week 1
Author: Tbyrd | 12:43 PM | 2 Comments |
A few months ago, I found two large stacks of old 8x5 file cards my mom used for work. They were just collecting dust, so I took them home and decided to do something fun with one at least weekly. Here's what I made this week. They're a departure from my usual (covering the entire canvas with pieces) and I actually drew something which I'm not prone to doing since I can't draw to save my life. But they turned out okay.
*These scans aren't completely accurate because I used some metallic materials that my scanner apparently hates.*
Materials:
index cards
markers
scrapbook paper
stickers
magazine pages
metallic pens

Inspirational Wednesdays: Art Slam with Lu
Author: Tbyrd | 3:34 PM | 1 Comment |
If you take a look at the sidebar to your right, you’ll see I’ve decided to develop a format for M&C. Otherwise, I let perfectly good posts and ideas fall by the wayside. I’m also playing with new themes and a possible move. In the meantime, the only thing I’ve decided on is that there must be an order to things around here, starting today with Inspirational Wednesdays!
Why Wednesday? Well, it’s hump day, and sometimes you need inspiration to get over that hump in the middle of the week, and so Inspirational Wednesday was born. Today’s creative kick in the pants was found at Art Slam, the personal blog of the talented Lucrecer Braxton.
I found two posts particularly useful:
Creating a Morgue File and Laying the Foundation for Your Creative Life. I actually keep a morgue file already, I just never knew there was a name (and morgue file of all things) for it. I'm pretty literal so I always called them my, “pieces” or, “inspiration box”, and "the magazine files" since I keep them all in cute little file boxes for now. I’m planning to expand to file folders as well though since there are some things I never plan on using but inspire me in different ways.
To boot, I’ve decided to share my creative corners with you all. But you'll have to wait on Personal Day Mondays for that!

Friendship is Key
Author: Tbyrd | 9:55 AM | 1 Comment |
Every Saturday morning, I try to take my dog out for play time with his friends - an activity he eagerly anticipates as evidenced by him sitting near the door for hours and refusing to eat when we don't go.
Unfortunately, due to a busy schedule, I've been lax with the play date lately and Buddy hadn't seen his friends in about a month; so I promised him this particular weekend that, come hell or high water, he would get his play time. Watch the vid to find out what happens when your dog has been deprived of face time with the friends. Utter mayhem! It ends abruptly because he knocked the camera phone out of my hands and his friends - particularly large dogs - began leaping all over my car. The situation descended into madness after the camera stopped rolling. I had a few scratches on me, and mud on my car, but I'm okay!
P.S. - Please pardon my baby talk in the end. :o)

Fun With Barbie
Author: Tbyrd | 11:00 AM | 2 Comments |
If you're like me, you probably struggled with what to do with your Barbie Doll collection when you reached a certain age - even if you only had five and lived to cut off their hair. *ahem*
My Barbies still sit in my parents' attic but I did stumble across a few people who found new and innovative ways to give Barbie a second life - and just in time for her 50th birthday.
Some of these re-purposed Barbies are a bit twisted and scary, but cool at the same time. Go ahead - click. explore.
